From Humble Beginnings …
When The Monday Musical Club (MMC) was formed in 1896, the founding members, all with musical talent, presented programs in their homes for friends. As the organization’s popularity grew, performances were moved to larger public venues in the community.
… to a Valuable Cultural Asset.
Over time, the Club expanded its presentations to include performances by many of the most popular entertainers from this country and beyond.
In 1926 MMC sponsored Will Rogers in the first performance ever held in the new Stambaugh Auditorium, which continues to be our home. Outstanding artists who have performed here include: Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra, Fred Waring, Liberace, Mel Torme, Tommy Dorsey and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Tony Bennett, Olivia Newton John, The Oak Ridge Boys, Marie Osmond and many more.
A Commitment to the Community
Our outreach includes two scholarships for students at the Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music. We also help support the Stambaugh Youth Band and the Music Department of the Youngstown city schools annually. A dedicated collection is taken at one concert a year with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the Rescue Mission as part of our community commitment.
MMC has always operated as a non-profit organization. Those elected from the community to serve on the board function on committees involved with activities to promote the purpose of the Club.
